How do you fix a leaking roof?
A leaking roof doesn’t always mean you need a full replacement. If the roof isn’t too old, a quality repair is often very doable. Here’s how a leak gets fixed — and the most common culprit we see.

The most common culprit: chimney flashing
If the roof isn’t too old, a repair is often very doable, and a very common source of leaks is a chimney — specifically a chimney flashing issue. To fix it, we carefully use a flat bar to pick out the shingles around the chimney, remove all the old flashing, and install new ice-and-water shield underneath.

There are a lot of ways contractors handle chimney flashing, and we do it the best way we know how: we use 26-gauge steel, custom-bend it with a compound reglet groove, and create a full interlocking system. Done right, a chimney flashing like that can last at least 50 years.
